The 10 clauses, with the example's wording
From the filled-in example: a freelance designer making a winter campaign for a coffee shop, €1,500.
- The project. "6 Instagram posts, 1 counter poster and 1 website banner."
- Deliverables and dates, tied to client feedback: "provided feedback arrives by 30 October."
- Fee and payment. "50% deposit before work starts, 50% on delivery."
- Revisions. "Two rounds included. Further changes at €60 per hour."
- Client input. "Late input moves the delivery date by the same amount."
- Cancellation. "The deposit is kept and work done beyond it is invoiced."
- Ownership. "Rights transfer on full payment. Unchosen concepts stay with the freelancer."
- Confidentiality.
- Independent contractor.
- Governing law.
The three clauses freelancers most often leave out
- Revisions. Without a number, "one more small change" never ends.
- Cancellation. Without it, a client who cancels halfway may owe you nothing.
- Ownership on payment. It is your strongest lever if an invoice goes unpaid.
