Everything you can do

What is document tracking?

Document tracking is a way to see what happens to a file after you send it. Instead of emailing an attachment and hoping it landed, you share the file as a link and get a record of every open: who opened it, when, from which country, what they downloaded, and for a PDF, how long they spent on each page. Snapy.host is free document tracking software for PDFs, slide decks, images, and web pages, and the people you send to never need an account.

Know what happens after you hit send

Email an attachment and it disappears into a black hole. You never know if anyone opened it. Snapy.host is free document tracking software that turns any document into a tracked link, so you can see exactly what happened after you shared it.

Upload a file, share the link, and your private analytics page fills in by itself.

What you can see

Get an email the moment it is opened

Add your email to a link and switch on open alerts. The next time someone opens your document, you get an email, so you can follow up while it is fresh. It is throttled to once every ten minutes per link, so a viewer flipping pages does not flood your inbox.

How to track a document

  1. Drop your file in the box above (PDF, deck, image, page, or zip).
  2. Copy the link and send it however you like, in an email, a chat, or a proposal.
  3. Open the private analytics link (saved when you upload) to watch opens, downloads, and per-page time roll in.

Document tracking for sales, recruiting, real estate and freelancers

For sensitive files you can also lock the link down with secure document sharing, or track downloads on any file with file link tracking.

A few ways people use it: track a PDF's opens, track a proposal, share documents with clients, or use it as a free DocSend alternative.
